Public Relations

What does public relations entail?

Public relations is one of the most important aspect of a company's overall reputation management. All companies should, in theory, make every attempt at following the below brief before making any decisions for the running of a company:

  • Anticipate, analyze and interpret public opinion, attitudes and issues that might impact, for good or ill, the operations and plans of the organization.
  • Counsel management at all levels in the organization with regard to policy decisions, courses of action and communication, taking into account their public ramifications and the organization’s social or citizenship responsibilities.
  • Plan and implement the organization’s efforts to influence or change public policy. Set objectives, plan, budget, recruit and train staff, develop concepts and facilities — in short, manage all the resources needed to perform all of the above.

Implementation of a public relations strategy is often done as below:

  • Create and execute special events designed for public outreach and media relations
  • Expand business contacts via personal networking or attendance, and sponsorship opportunities at events
